World Network Systems supports five Scholar Hotels properties in the State College market, including The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center and The Nittany Lion Inn, along with three additional hotels operating under nationally recognized upscale hotel brands.
The properties do not all need the same level of on-site coverage. The two larger hotels receive regularly scheduled on-site support, while the smaller properties rely primarily on remote support with on-site visits for projects, escalations, maintenance, and issues that require hands-on attention.

Supporting multiple hotels requires more than a remote help desk. Each property has its own staff, guest-facing systems, business applications, network dependencies, and food-and-beverage operations. Problems can cross between workstations, networks, Microsoft 365, POS, Wi-Fi, internet circuits, and third-party vendors.
Scholar Hotels needed a support model that could give each property the right level of hands-on coverage while still managing the State College portfolio as one coordinated technology environment.
A dedicated WNS technician rotates among the State College properties, providing scheduled support at the larger hotels and visiting the smaller properties as needed.
The local technician is backed by the WNS help desk, network engineers, project management, and escalation resources when an issue requires additional expertise.
WNS stays involved when an issue crosses systems or requires coordination with the ISP, software vendor, POS provider, or another technology partner.
Every two weeks, the WNS outsourced CTO meets with the General Managers of the State College hotels to review open technology issues, upcoming projects, recurring problems, infrastructure needs, vendor concerns, and priorities across the group.
This moves the relationship beyond ticket response. Hotel leadership has a regular forum for technology planning, risk discussion, project coordination, and decision-making.
WNS manages approximately 154 Microsoft 365 licenses across the hotel environment, including onboarding and offboarding, licensing, email administration, permissions, account changes, security configuration, and user support.
Centralized administration helps Scholar maintain more consistent processes across the State College properties instead of managing each hotel as an isolated environment.
WNS helped migrate the food-and-beverage outlets at The Nittany Lion Inn and The Penn Stater to Toast POS and continues to support the technology environment around those systems.
WNS supports the Wi-Fi environment at The Penn Stater, helping maintain connectivity for hotel operations, guests, meeting activity, and the systems that depend on the network.
When a problem involves multiple systems or providers, WNS coordinates troubleshooting rather than leaving hotel staff to determine which vendor owns the issue.
WNS also handles the infrastructure, security, and operational projects that keep the State College properties running through renovations, moves, upgrades, and day-to-day changes.
WNS deploys and manages NetworkShield DNS-layer protection to help block malicious, phishing, and unwanted destinations before supported devices connect to them.
WNS performs structured cabling and network-infrastructure work for hotel technology projects, moves, additions, and changes — connecting front-desk, back-office, POS, wireless, and other operational systems.
When renovations or operational needs require a temporary front desk, WNS helps relocate the technology that staff depend on, including workstations, network connectivity, phones, printers, POS-related connections, and supporting infrastructure.
WNS supports the technology surrounding hotel key and door-lock systems, including workstation connectivity, network paths, interfaces, migrations, troubleshooting, and coordination with the key-system vendor.
The Nittany Lion Inn operates three restaurants and a coffee shop. The Penn Stater operates a restaurant, pub, and coffee shop. Reliable POS, workstation, application, and network connectivity is therefore part of daily hotel operations, not a back-office convenience.
Because WNS supports the surrounding IT environment as well as the POS technology, the team can troubleshoot across the full path instead of treating each component as a separate problem.

The rotating technician works in the properties regularly and becomes familiar with the people, equipment, applications, and recurring operational needs.
Scheduled on-site time is concentrated at the larger hotels, while smaller properties still receive remote support and hands-on help when it is needed.
Biweekly leadership meetings connect day-to-day technical support with broader planning, budgeting, infrastructure, and project priorities.
The result is something between traditional outsourced IT and an internal IT department: a local IT presence backed by a complete technology team.
WNS can build a support model around your portfolio, your properties, and the way your team actually operates.
